artful hearts

This month's challenge for my Altered Artists Group is to alter Dollar Store wooden boxes.  I decided to take the lids off and make shadow box projects from them.  I have also been wanting to use some glittered Styrofoam hearts, bird cages, and charms from my collections.
This one is inspired by my Chunkie Junkies that
I made a while ago...you can see more here.

I just love that I found a use for
this little niche I got at Michael's.
I am loving how this series came out!
They all look great hanging together.

You can see another altered box project here.

all you need is love...

This is the latest in the enlarged collaborative artwork series from my 8th graders.  We needed a little more love in the art room this semester, so this awesome image from Keith Haring was perfect! It was neat to see that this technique can be just as great with such a simple image.  After the students painted their colored areas, I just went in and used black paint to outline, making the image POP!!!

You can see more collaborations here, here, and here.
